Jose is a very experienced barber who listens to you and even asked for pictures. He did a great job on mine and my 20-year-old son’s hair and beard. If I could raid him higher, the five stars I would. I highly recommend.

It is very difficult to find good, professional service providers that are truly excellent in their profession. I found one four weeks ago. Mel's Old City Barbershop is excellent. They are courteous, friendly and the shop is immaculate. I could't be happier. It is easy to make an online appointment and they are quick to text you a confirmation and reminders. Mel's is great! Everyone is so nice. I had my haircut there for the first time two months ago and Joey cut my hair EXACTLY the way I wanted. He's a great barber and he's very personable! Jose has also cut my hair and is great as well; very meticulous. Love these guys!!!

Nice, friendly, very clean Barbershop. Joey was my barber, listened to what I wanted and did a fantastic cut. I was also blessed with a certificate from their Pay It Forward Freedom Fund as a Veteran and first time there cut was paid for in advance by a donation certificate. We're in town for a family wedding and my husband needed a haircut. Stopped into Mel's after a quick Google search and we're very happy we did! Walked right in, no wait. Fantastic service from all staff, the owner kindly introduced himself, calling us by name. This type of family-owned barber shop is precious and rare. Don't look further for a quality barber in Sarasota, this one is KING. 11/10 recommend.
